Chester Pride has once again teamed up with one of its partners, Bank of America to offer a free three course Christmas Day meal for any member of the LGBTQ+ community who maybe facing Christmas Day alone.
Last year we launched our Christmas Day meal under Covid restrictions where LGBTQ+ people were already isolated from others for many reasons including being disowned by their own families for simply being LGBTQ+.
As an LGBTQ+ charity we were able to offer a safe and welcoming space to over 15 guests and this year we have extended our invitation to members of the LGBTQ+ community not only from Chester but to people across Cheshire, North Wales, Wrexham, and Merseyside. The Christmas Day meal consists of a hot, freshly prepared three course meal with all the trimmings, afternoon games, Christmas movies and a place to relax with a hot drink or even something fizzy with our doors opening at noon until early evening. In some cases transport can be provided for anyone who would otherwise be unable to attend.
To book a free space, get in touch with our JUST ASK helpline by email at justask@chesterpride.co.uk or call the team on 01244 257 602 or 07718 066 684 (Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm) before 5pm on Monday 20th December
“We know that many members of the LGBTQ+ community face difficult times at Christmas. There are many who have been rejected by their families or have lost partners, are socially isolated or struggling with their mental health. For all the joy that Christmas brings for many, it is also a time when people are increasingly affected by their mental health. At Chester Pride we want to ensure that every member of our community has the opportunity not to be alone at Christmas and join us for a full Christmas lunch and a few games afterwards. It is not just a chance to socialise, as we will ensure that one of our support workers is on hand so if anyone is struggling, they can have a chat with one of our friendly and non-judgmental staff.”
UPDATES ON CHESTER PRIDE WILL BE POSTED ON WWW.CHESTERPRIDE.CO.UK OR ON OUR SOCIAL MEDIA SITES Facebook: ChesterPrideUK Twitter@Chesterpride & Instagram @Chester_Pride_Official
Chester Pride is an LGBT+ focused charity established in 2013. They plan and run the annual Chester Pride event that sees around 15,000 people attend the celebration of diversity. They have also expanded their work and throughout the year to provide charitable projects and services to support the LGBT+ community. Their flagship service is the Just Ask helpline that offers support on any LGBT+ topic or to any LGBT+ person, all year round.
The charity is proud to support the West Cheshire Foodbank as they know that LGBT+ people are more likely to be vulnerable and in need of support from places like the Foodbank. They also believe in community and are proud to support other organisations and projects that help a wider community in need of support.
