New on-street messages around Chester City Centre are urging visitors to shop safely, observing social-distancing rules.
Cheshire West and Chester has entered Tier 2 restrictions, the Council and its partners are now expecting residents and visitors to return to the city centre for their Christmas shopping.
To help everyone understand the rules, messaging including queue markers are now in place displaying new messages about visiting and shopping with care.
Shoppers are being reminded to observe social distancing rules, cover faces whilst indoors and wash their hands regularly.
Councillor Karen Shore, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment, Highways and Strategic Transport, said:” No one could have predicted a Christmas quite like this but by following the guidance we can still celebrate and stay safe.
“Chester has a warm welcome for shoppers, the CheStar is back outside the Cathedral and our Tree is up in Town Hall Square.”
Carl Critchlow, Manager of Chester BID added: “Our businesses are very excited to welcome back shoppers! Behind the scenes, they have been busy making arrangements and once again innovating to ensure customers can shop and dine safely.”
Important advice to continue regular hand-washing, social distancing and mask-wearing (hand, face, space) remain in place for everyone alongside the special restrictions relating to the borough’s inclusion in Tier 2 (high alert) from this week.
