An orchestra that recreates the glitz and glamour of the music from the golden age of Hollywood is heading to Chester as part of a UK tour.
The Fulltone Orchestra are set to bring their brand new concert - "The Golden Age of Hollywood" to Chester Cathedral on Friday 27th June at 7.30pm.
Promising an unforgettable evening full of nostalgia and great musical hits from some of the most beloved films in cinema history, The Fulltone Orchestra will embark on a musical journey back to Hollywood’s most iconic era, full of the glitz and glamour of the silver screen.
The 50 strong orchestra will perform music from films including The Magnificent Seven, Ben-Hur, Breakfast at Tiffany's, and The Great Escape. The show will also include music from the James Bond films, iconic scores by Rogers and Hammerstein, songs originally made famous by Judy Garland, Elvis, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers and many more as they celebrate the musical hits from an era that shaped the film world of the 20’s to 60’s. Under the baton of musical director Anthony Brown, the audience will also hear the music of legendary composers like Max Steiner, Bernard Herrmann, and Henry Mancini who lit up the silver screen with their iconic music.
The Fulltone Orchestra will be joined on stage at the Cathedral by the vocal talents of soloists Edward Kerr and Jemma Brown, singing songs from award winning Hollywood musicals that achieved huge box office success.
Edward Kerr has been singing for over 30 years across a wide range of styles, from Italian arias, through big band classics to rock. A regular performer with the Fulltone Orchestra, Edwards is excited to follow in the footsteps of some of the greatest singers of Hollywood’s golden age.
Jemma Brown trained under Geraldine Roche ARCM (Hons) and has performed in various professional musical ventures, most recently with Fulltone in Sir Karl Jenkins's 'The Peacemakers.' She is currently studying for her LLCM and works as a vocal coach at her school, Devizes Music Academy, where she nurtures aspiring singers. In addition, she leads The Big Sound, a vibrant community choir.
Founded in 2017 by Musical Director Anthony Brown, The Fulltone Orchestra features 50 exceptional musicians from the South West who perform a wide variety of music from awe-inspiring classical masterpieces to thrilling contemporary works. Anthony created the orchestra to bring to life his dream of performing powerful and genre-defying symphonic music. With a rich background in musical theatre, Anthony’s approach to orchestral music is as dynamic and vibrant as his personality, ensuring each Fulltone concert is a unique experience.
Speaking about the concert at Chester Cathedral, Anthony said:
"The Golden Age of Hollywood is a concert that we are really excited to perform in the beautiful surroundings of Chester Cathedral. The music we have chosen really does showcase the orchestra’s exceptional musicianship. The symphony orchestra, accompanied our sensational soloists, will transport audiences to the glitz and glamour of classic Hollywood for this splendid evening of music that you really won’t forget!
