Chester and Wirral Football League - Weekend Update

Here are the latest match reports and results from the Chester and Wirral Football League...

Friday, 24/10/25 – Friday evening brought Frodsham Park JFC their first win of the season in emphatic fashion, as they swept aside Chester Nomads 4ths with an 11–0 victory. Jake Edwards led the charge with a hat-trick, while James O’Connor and Harvey Cook each struck twice. Further goals from Reece Harwood, Ben Marr, Matt Hayes and an own goal completed a night to forget for the Nomads.

Saturday, 25/10/25--Northern Cup first round action produced mixed fortunes for the CWFL sides. FC Farndon progressed with a fine 3–1 away win over Winstanley Warriors Reserves, thanks to goals from Callum Parry and Denver Green, along with an own goal.

Capenhurst Vets bowed out despite efforts from Ian Armstrong and Phil Jones, slipping to a 3–2 defeat against Clay Brow Reserves, while Upton JFC Reserves also exited the competition after losing 2–1 away at Poynton Reserves.

Higher Bebington Kelma Vets showed their experience with a comfortable 5–0 victory over St Helens U18s. JP Wheadon led the scoring with a hat-trick, while Si Saunders and Shaun Burgess were also on target. In contrast, Higher Bebington Kelma’s Reserves fell 6–4 to Hartford despite finding the net four times through Kal Herbert (2), Jack Bradley and Jake Bernard.

In CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship action, Clarence closed the gap at the top to just one point as they continue to chase the unbeaten leaders Higher Bebington Kelma Reserves. A brace from Ben Ryan and a goal from Ian Davies earned Clarence a 3–1 win over Great Sutton Reserves, whose sole reply came from Kain Morris.

Poulton Vic remain without a point after a 4–1 defeat to Elton JFC, despite a goal from Zak Graham.

In the CWFL Queensferry Premier Division, leaders Whitegate suffered their first defeat of the season, going down 4–2 against Chester Nomads 3rds. Matthew Cann and Sam Eves were on the scoresheet for Whitegate, but Nomads secured the points after a brace from Cal Pepler and a goal each for both Osian Jones and Russ Ins.

Blacon Youth Club Reserves enjoyed a strong 4–1 victory over Cestrian Alex, with Calyn Spencer, Henley Downridge, Ellis Moore and Caden Allman all on target. Allman, who only turned 16 earlier in the week, marked his debut with a goal.

Blacon Youth Vets extended their lead at the top of the CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division Three with a dominant 13–0 win over Parkfield Vets. It was a hat-trick of hat-tricks, as Danny Davies, Kev Garland and James Henry each netted three times. Further goals came from Luke Jackson, Lee McElmeel, Kevin Jones and Matty Hallal.

Vineyard Vets dropped points for the first time this season after a 2–2 draw with Upton JFC Vets. Jay Thompson and Tommy Carroll scored for Vineyard, while Matt Norton and Ben Walley replied for Upton. Frodsham Vets secured a 3–1 win against Waverton Vets, courtesy of a brace from Michael McCluskey and a goal from Joe Morphet.

Wirral Masters occupy top spot in the CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division Four after a hard-fought 2–0 victory over Dee Rangers Vets, thanks to goals from Chris Atherton and Alec Higginson.

Davenham Vets and West Kirby Vets both lost ground in the title race after a 2–2 draw, with David Cowie and Robin Lee on target for West Kirby.

Efforts from Mickey McCann and Lee Grimsley weren’t enough Poulton Athletic’s Vets, as Crossway Vets edged a 4–2 win through strikes from Dave Megsom, Paul Thomas, Phil Radcliffe and Kev Leeche.

Cheshire Vikings Vets made it four wins from four with a convincing 7–1 triumph over FC Vaults Vets. Michael Large bagged a hat-trick, Michael Shaw netted twice, and there were further goals from Stuart Hardman and Alex Tarpey.

Port Sunlight Vets stay second after a 5–2 win over Saughall Vets. Mark Mosey struck twice, with Laurie Alkins, Steve Quarry and Matty Nayland also scoring. Sam Marshall and Adam Broomhead replied for Saughall.

Frodsham Reserves Vets recorded their first victory of the season with a 5–3 win against Hoole Wanderers Vets. William Beele scored twice, with Nick Foxen, John Boote and Simone Spinillo also on target. Hoole’s goals came from Nodz Nodena and a brace from Stephen Donoghue.

Tarporley Vets edged past Great Sutton Vets 1–0, with Andrew Marlor netting the decisive goal.
