Here are the latest results from the Chester and Wirral Football League...
CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division leaders Moreton missed the chance to tighten their grip on the top spot last Saturday as Storm Bert wreaked havoc on the weekend’s fixtures. With most council pitches unplayable, games were left to astro-turf venues. Moreton managed only a point after an Andy Noonan goal was cancelled out by Tom Berry, whose strike earned Upton JFC Reserves a 1-1 draw and lifted them into second place.
Kelsall climbed to third after a 3-1 victory over Christleton UDA. Josh Torlop opened the scoring with a tidy finish inside the box before a deflected Mikey Taylor cross doubled their lead. Yaya Kamara pulled one back with a stunning 20-yard half-volley, but Tom Hulme sealed the win with a spectacular 30-yard thunderbolt.
In the CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship, Upton JFC thirds claimed a thrilling 5-3 victory over AFC Waverton, leapfrogging them into second place. Joe Hall bagged a brace, with additional goals from Tom Messham, Ethan Ramsden, and Wilson Burgess. Waverton’s efforts came through Declan Jones, Owen Hughes, and Stuart Scheuber.
At the other end of the table, Sutton Rangers reserves recorded an emphatic 8-3 victory over FC Farndon. Dee James and Callum Lang both netted hat-tricks, while Kurt Griffiths and Corey Williams added one each. Farndon’s consolation goals were scored by Andrew Walker, Niyog Limbu, and Will Yardley.
The CWFL Tarvin Precision Division Two saw the only surviving veterans’ match, as West Kirby United Vets defeated Chester Nomads Vets 3-2. Nomads initially led through James Macintosh and Hayden Evans, but a spirited comeback from West Kirby saw Neil Dulson, Sean Moore, and Paul Crowe turn the tide.
