Friday night’s CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 3 and 4 fixtures delivered a goal-laden start to the weekend, with 13 goals scored across two games.
Blacon Vets were in ruthless form, storming to a 6-0 win over AFC Waverton in division 3. James Henry and Dave Davies both netted braces, with further contributions from John Shearwood and Kevin Garland sealing the emphatic victory.
Crossway Vets and Wirral Masters Vets served up a seven-goal thriller in division 4, with Paul Thomas, Wes Roberts, and Phil Radcliffe on target for the hosts. However, it was Masters who edged it, thanks to strikes from Danny Payne, Jamie Mellor, Luke Brennan, and an unfortunate own goal, securing a dramatic 4-3 victory and all three points.
In the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division, Whitegate continued their perfect start to the season, making it three wins from three with a well-earned 2-0 away win at Handbridge. Mathew Cann and Harvey Unwin were on the scoresheet, moving Whitegate to the top of the table.
Newton Athletic also kept up the pace, beating Blacon Reserves 2-0 thanks to goals from Liam Bytheway and Liam Bradley, leaving them unbeaten in second with two wins and a draw.
Elsewhere, Cestrian were held to a 1-1 draw by Hoole Rovers, despite a goal from Chris Hibbert.
Higher Bebington Kelma Reserves climbed to the summit of the CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship with a dominant 5-1 win over Poulton Vics. Tyler Abram bagged a brace, while Ussamane Jalo, Shea Edge, and the evergreen Shaun Burgess added to the tally. Tom Parker netted the consolation for Poulton.
FC Farndon came from behind to defeat M.U.C United 5-2, inspired by a four-goal haul from ace marksman Lee Parry. Harvey Williams also scored, as Farndon moved up to third in the standings. Mehdi Benazouz and Keanou Reid scored United’s consolation goals.
Great Sutton Reserves edged Elton JFC 4-3 in a thrilling encounter featuring seven different goal scorers. Lewis Ward, Jamie Forster, Joe Tittle, and Joe Thomson netted for Sutton, while Elton replied through Callum Windowson, Jim King, and Lewi Garston.
In Division 3 Vets action, Vineyard Vets began their campaign with a confident 4-1 away win over Parkfield Vets. Vineyards goals came from Phil Gandy, John Elias, Dave Favager, and Mike Sprott, while Nigel Clarke netted for the hosts.
Tarvin Athletic Vets and Upton JFC Vets shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Matty Andrews grabbed a brace for Tarvin, but Upton hit back through Jim Lehman and Matt Norton.
In Division 4, Dee Rangers Vets ran out 4-2 winners against Hoole Rangers Vets, thanks to doubles from Ben Stern and Chris Sutter. Ash English and Ben Hughes were on target for Hoole, Meanwhile Davenham Vets also got off to a flying start, recording a 5-2 win over Poulton Athletic Vets.
Cheshire Vikings Vets began their promotion push in emphatic style with an 8-0 thrashing of Tarporley Victoria Vets. Stuart Hardman stole the show with a superb hat-trick, while Michael Large and Michael Shaw both hit doubles and Jon Phomprett adding a single.
Great Sutton Vets edged Saughall Vets 2-1, with Tony Atherton and Gaz Handley the match-winners.
In another high-scoring affair, FC Vault Vets claimed a 5-3 win over St Annes Vets. John McGuiness and Will Dixon each scored twice, with Ade Croft also on target, cancelling out St Annes’ three-goal effort.
