Clarence FC made it two wins from two on Friday evening in the CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship, cruising past Great Sutton Reserves with an emphatic 7-2 win to go top of the table. Ben Ryan was in inspired form, bagging a fine hat-trick, while Tyler Smith helped himself to a brace. Charlie Gouldson and Reno Robinson also got on the scoresheet for Clarence. Kaine Morris netted both goals for Great Sutton in what proved to be mere consolations.
Elsewhere in the CWFL Tarvin Precison Vets Division one, Capenhurst Villa Vets got their campaign off to a flying start with a superb 3-0 victory over Hooton Vets, Ryan Nicol, Ian Armstrong and Lewis Walters all netted in a fine win for Cape.
In Saturday’s CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division action, Upton JFC earned an impressive 4-1 away win at Lache FC. The match remained tightly contested until the stroke of half-time, when Lache was reduced to ten men. Matt Jones made no mistake from the resulting free kick to give Upton the lead.
Despite going down to nine men in the second half, Lache managed to pull level. However, Upton made their numerical advantage count with further goals from Az Role, Hal Senturk and Sam Williams. The margin could have been greater if not for some superb goalkeeping from Rory Stephen, who produced a standout save described as "Gordon Banks-esque."
Cestrian Alex picked up their first win of the season with a narrow 2-1 win over Blacon Youth Club Reserves. Goals from Ollie Edwards and Dom Loydon secured the points.
Meanwhile, Whitegate recorded a comfortable 3-0 home win against Chester Nomads 3rds. Sam Evans opened the scoring with a cheeky nutmeg on the keeper, before Adam Pickering and Lewis Larkin added gloss to the scoreline.
Newton Athletic and Handbridge shared the spoils after a 2-2 draw. Ben Woodman and Cal Dicks found the net for Newton, while Jake Tong and Ryan Bradley replied for Handbridge in an entertaining contest.
There was no shortage of drama between Higher Bebington Kelma Reserves and M.U.C United, as the two sides played out a pulsating 4-4 draw. The match featured two penalties, a red card, sin-bins and plenty of goals.
Modou Cham stole the show for M.U.C United with a well-taken hat-trick, with Jamil Hussein also on the scoresheet. In response, Kelma struck through Tyler Abram, Josh Griffiths, Andy Simpson and Chris Corkhill.
