Here are the latest results from the Chester and Wirral Football League...
Friday 05/09/25:
Liam Bradley was the star of the show for Newton Athletic, bagging a brace in their emphatic 4-0 win over Hoole Rovers. Cal Dicks and Dan Christian were also on target as Newton climbed to the top of the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division—albeit having played a game more than nearest challengers Whitegate United.
There was a surprise result in the CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship as Clarence FC suffered a 3-2 home defeat at the hands of Sutton Rangers Reserves. Despite goals from James Smith and Charlie Gouldson, Clarence were undone by a double from Danny Lewis and a strike from Joel Hunter.
Mersey Royal Vets show no signs of relinquishing their grip on the CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division One title with a commanding 4-0 win over Hooton Vets. New boys Dave Rudge and Shaun Parrington both found the net, with Lee Davey and Kris Hesketh also getting in on the act.
In Division Two, Birkenhead Vets edged out Neston Nomads Vets 3-1. Ricci Loughran, the Birkenhead player-manager, opened the scoring early on before Rob Marrs equalised for Nomads. However, second-half goals from Lee Gibson and James Atherton secured the points for Birkenhead.
Elsewhere, Eastham Vets looked on course for victory against Hartford Vets thanks to Mike Haddock's goal, but a dramatic last-minute equaliser from Craig Millington ensured a share of the spoils.
Saturday 06/09/25:
Just one game in the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division—saw Upton JFC reserves run out 6-1 winners over Chester Nomads Thirds, with Aaron Rowlands and Joe Williams both netting twice. Josh Robinson and Tom Wynne-Jones added to the tally, while Tim Ashbrook grabbed a consolation for the visitors.
FC Farndon surged to the top of the CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship after a thumping 9-1 victory over Chester Nomads Fourths. Adam Morris hit a hat-trick, Lee Parry added two, and there were further goals from David Mitchell, Dan Wagstaff, Mark Cunliffe and an own goal. Sam Gregory scored the lone reply for Nomads.
M.U.C United got off the mark with their first win of the season, cruising to a 4-0 away victory at Poulton Vics. Jamil Hussein starred with a hat-trick, while Ibrahim Hussan also got on the scoresheet.
Capenhurst Villa Vets continued their strong start, recording another 3-0 win—this time against Crew Vets. Ryan Nicol struck twice, and Steve Hickson added a third to put them top of the CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division One.
Higher Bebington Kelma Vets picked up a dramatic 4-3 win away at newly promoted Winsford Vets. Aaron Bird netted a brace, while Simon Tierney and Steve Forster also chipped in. Winsford’s goals came courtesy of a brace by Ste Warburton and a David Garstang single.
Division Two action saw Ellesmere Port Red Lions come out on top in a 10-goal thriller, defeating Chester Nomads Vets 6-4. Gray Davidson stole the headlines with a hat-trick—including a stunner from his own half. Matty Fowler, Jonny Gee and man-of-the-match James Hudson completed the scoring. For Nomads, Danny Andrew netted twice, with Dan Delgado and Hayden Evans also on target.
