Here's the latest results from the Chester and Wirral Football League...
Moreton and Upton JFC Reserves will meet in this year’s CWFL Dee 106.3 League Cup final after two high-scoring semi-finals saw a staggering 20 goals scored across the ties. Moreton led Christleton UDA 5-1 at the break at the half time interval, thanks to first-half braces from Danny Keogh and Jay Hanson, with Jack Pringle also finding the net and looked to be cruising into the final with Christleton’s only strike (Cooper Nelson) looking like a consolation, but they came out fighting in the second half. Goals from Asher Morris, Dom Trejo-Munson, and Yaya Kamara brought them back into contention, but despite further pressure, they couldn’t find the equaliser.
In the other semi-final, Upton JFC Reserves produced a brilliant attacking performance to see off Cestrian Alex 8-3. Despite a brace from Mike McIntyre and a goal from Chris Rowntree, Cestrian were overwhelmed by Upton’s firepower. Tom Berry netted a hat-trick, while Sam Davies and Aaron Rowland each helped themselves to a brace. Hal Senturk also got in on the act to complete the rout.
In the CWFL Roodee Wen Design Tom Gerraghty Cup semi-final, Cheshire Vikings Vets edged past Frodsham Vets on penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time. Michael Large struck for Vikings, while Andy Corness responded for Frodsham to take the game to a shootout, which Vikings won 3-2. They’ll face Wirral Masters Vets in the final after a comprehensive 6-3 win over Nags Head Bunbury Vets. Mike Richardson netted twice, with Ben Ellis and Daz McKevitt also on the scoresheet. Nags Head added two own goals to compound their woes.
Mersey Royal Vets advanced to the quarterfinals of the P3Plant Life Members Cup with an emphatic 5-1 victory over Upton JFC Thirds. Mike Burke was the star of the show with a hat-trick, while Lee Davey and James Beattie also found the net. Meanwhile on Friday night action in the CWFL Tarvin Precision Division 3 served up a thrilling 4-4 draw between Eastham Vets and Ellesmere Port Town Vets. Joe Crane hit a hat-trick for Eastham, with Paul Sweeney adding a fourth, but Ellesmere Port struck back through braces from Amine Hamasfi and Stu Schuber to share the spoils.
The only Premier Division fixture of the weekend saw Hoole Rangers climb to fourth with a 5-3 away win at Handbridge. Sam Brant and Callum Jones both struck twice, with Godwin Nweze also on the scoresheet. Handbridge responded with goals from Rhys Roberts (2) and Ryan Bradley, but it wasn’t enough to stop the visitors claiming all three points.
