Cestrian Alex kept their slim title hopes alive last Monday night as they put Cheshire Vikings to the sword 3-1. A double from Elliot Davies was supplemented with a goal by Ashley Reed. Cestrian will now need to win their last remaining two games and score 19 plus goals to take the title away from Waggon & Horses Reserves.
Midweek action in the CWFL Tarvin Precision vet’s leagues started off on Tuesday night and In Division 3 an Adam Butcher brace for Tarvin Athletic vets was just enough to defeat Eastham vets who replied with an effort from Jake Dakin.
On Wednesday night in Division 1 goals from Phil Coffin and Nick Scholes were negated by a double from Dave Huntington and a Si Tierney single as Higher Bebington Kelma vets defeated Queens vets for the second time in two weeks.
In Division 3 Ashton vets cemented their lead at the top, Luca Trasatti and Time Harrison were the marksmen in a 2-0 away win at FC Farndon. Chester Nomads vets had Rob Taberner and McConachie on target as they defeated Upton JFC vets 2-1, Adam Jackson scored Upton’s consolation goal.
The Big game in Division 5 seen the top two face off and it was Frodsham Reserves vets that came away with the points whilst drawing level at the top. Chris Davies bagged a brace whilst Rob Davies and Ant Ollier were also on target in a fine victory for Frodsham.

Kelsall increased their chances of finishing runners up in the CWFL Queensferry Premier division with a 2-1 win against rivals Hoole Rangers. Dom Coates and Mark Robson both netted for Kelsall as Reece Ludlow scored Hoole’s consolation goal. Chester Nomads 3rds and Sutton Rangers played out a 3-3 draw. Nathan Stephenson scored two and Alex Morgan one, but this was not enough for Sutton to take all the points as Nomads replied with goals from Tom Taylor, Sam Christmas, and Jack Evans.
CWFL Life Members Cup quarter-final
Ellesmere Port Red Lions put up a brave fight against Premier Division champions Waggon & Horses on Saturday in the CWFL Lie Members cup quarter final. Waggon’s youth and class eventually told as Daniel Spaven, Billy Fennell and Lewis Coppack all netted in a 3-0 win to send Waggon into the semi-final.
CWFL Doug Johnson semi-final
With the recent wet weather curtailing the game, Winsford Town vets and Neston Nomads vets finally got their Doug Johnson quarter final game on, and it was worth the wait. Ian Cross, Sam Bunbury, and Chris Kennedy all netted for Neston, but Man of the match Liam Goulding netted a fine hat-trick for Winsford in reply to take the game to penalties, and it was Winsford who ran out 5-4 winners in the shoot-out to secure a semi-final place against Division 1 side Hooton vets.
Vet’s league action on Saturday seen Hartford vets extend their lead at the top of Division 4 thanks to a 3-2 win against Great Sutton vets. Strikes from Chris Crawford, Raj Tandon and Martin Riley secured the points for Hartford. Hoole vets and FC Vaults vets shared a point each after the game finished 2-2. Dan Eborall and Jon Mathen scored for Hoole with Ad Croft and Luke Holland netting for FC Vaults.
In Division 5 Frodsham Reserves vets went three points clear at the top thanks to a 3-1 win against Port Sunlight vets as goals from Will Beales, Stu Totterdale and Joe Morphet done the damage for Frodsham. Steve Quarry scored Sunlight’s consolation goal.
