The CWFL are proud to report that Mersey Royal Vets have claimed the FA Cheshire Cup Vets title following an emphatic 7-0 win over Capenhurst Vets. Despite the final score, Royal were made to work for their triumph early on, as Capenhurst delivered a disciplined first-half display to go in at the break level — a rare feat against a side as dominant as Royal this season.
However, ten minutes after the restart, Captain Stuey Jones produced a moment of brilliance, shrugging off a challenge on halfway before unleashing a thunderous 35-yard strike into the top corner. The goal proved to be the decisive moment and opened the floodgates. Danny Edwards, Josh Dures, Chris Hesketh, and Jamie Beattie all found the net, while Will Bulpin and Danny Cowle added their own stunning efforts to cap off a memorable win for David Carrington’s side. Congratulations to everyone involved with the Royal.

They’ll now await the winners of Higher Bebington Kelma Vets and Mersey Royal Vets, who face off this Wednesday, 30th April (8pm KO) at Higher Bebington Astro.
