CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division
The Chester & Wirral league 2024-25 season kicked off on Friday night and Moreton FC got off to a flyer as they hit five without reply against Handbridge FC. Moreton got off to the best possible start as they netted twice in the opening ten minutes, both times the goals coming from corners. Olaitan Emmanuel reacted quickest from corner number one to poke home from close range before Jay Hanson also got ahead of his marker to hook home number two a few minutes later. Charlie Clewlow then grabbed two for himself as he scored a 25-yard rocket before finishing off a great move to slot past the Handbridge keeper for his second and Moreton’s fourth. Handbridge battled to get back into the game in the second half, but James Broadbent bagged Moreton’s fifth goal of the game to seal the three points.
Last season’s second placed finishes Kelsall secured an impressive 2-1 win against last season’s Premier Division Invincibles’ Waggon & Horses. A Dom Coates strike and an own goal gave Kelsall the points as Aiden Fields netted Waggon’s consolation goal. Upton JFC Reserves had Jack Rowland, Aaron Rowland and Matty Wood on the score sheet as they eclipsed Cestrian Alex 3-0.
In the local derby Hoole Rangers came out on top as they hit nine past Hoole Rovers. Kyle Stoddard, Victor Aarongundade and Callum Jones all bagged two each and Alfie Powell and Reece Ludlow both got singles the latter a superb long-range volley and Godwin Nweze also netted on his debut. Hoole Rangers sit top of the Premier Division after the opening games.
CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship
Lache FC having moved away from Vets football started their new beginnings in the open age Championship with a fine 5-1 win against Whitegate FC. Keiye Williams bagged himself a fine hat-trick to go along with efforts from Warren Kelly and Adrian Callaghan. Cheshire Vikings had James Marshall on target as his goal was enough to give Vikings the points against Sutton Rangers Reserves.
West Kirby 3rds had a fine 5-0 away win at Ellesmere Port Town (U21). Louis Brown bagged a double and Danny Wilson, Michael Mcstein and Jack Widdicar all got singles. Upton JFC 3rd were the highest scorers of the day in the Championship netting seven away at FC Farndon. Joe Walsh helped himself to a treble, Jack Robinson netted a double and Aris Mano and Jack Robinson also got in on the act with one each.
Chester Nomads 4th and Waggon & Horses Reserves shared a point each in a close encounter. The reliable Ellis Moore netted from the spot for Waggon, but Richard Birtwistle replied for Nomads as the game ended 1-1.
