Cheshire West Recycling is promoting NHS COVID safety messages on its waste collection vehicles to help tackle the continuing coronavirus pandemic.
Cheshire West Recycling Limited (CWR), a wholly owned company of Cheshire West and Chester Council, provides the household waste and recycling collection on behalf of the council for households across the Borough.
New livery on the vehicles will mean the NHS’ hand washing, social distancing and face covering advice, as well as promoting the use of the NHS Track and Trace app, will be seen in communities right across the Borough.
In total 25 of CWR’s waste collection vehicles have been branded up to support the use of the NHS COVID-19 app and the general safety advice. The app is part of the NHS Test and Trace Service, which is designed to break the chains of transmission of COVID-19.
The vehicles have a different design on each side – one promoting the NHS app and the other repeating the current hands, face, space guidance.
The Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment, Highways and Strategic Transport, Councillor Karen Shore: “I’m delighted that Cheshire West Recycling is able to do this to support colleagues in the NHS during these challenging times. The winter months almost here and we all need to play our part to keep the coronavirus under control.
“I hope the bold graphics on our vehicles will act as a reminder, helping to reinforce this important advice and help the borough turn things around, avoiding the risk of our NHS colleagues being overwhelmed by a high number of hospital admissions in the coming months.
“As a Council, we know we cannot tackle the challenges caused by COVID-19 alone. Together with our council companies and partners across the north west and beyond, we pledge to play our part to turn this around and use the hashtag #letsturnthisaround to highlight how we are working together.”
