Students in Cheshire West and Chester are celebrating A-level and other exam success this week.
Over 2,200 students in 16 schools and colleges across Cheshire West and Chester sat examinations with results released yesterday (Thursday 18 August 2022).
Provisional A-level data shows students have returned an overall pass rate of 98 per cent compared with 98 per cent nationally.
19 per cent of all awards were at the highest A* grade. The national figure is 14.5 per cent.
66 per cent of students gained a higher grade A* - B compared to 62 per cent nationally.
Students across the borough also had success in other qualifications including BTech, International Baccalaureate and the new Tech levels.
Councillor Louise Gittins, Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council, said: “Students receiving their exam results yesterday have experienced significant disruption to their education due to Covid. Their success is testament to the hard work, resilience and determination they have shown during this time, and I applaud the outstanding achievement of all students across west Cheshire. I also want to acknowledge the hard work of teaching and other staff and the support of parents and carers.
“These amazing results will allow students to progress to their chosen university or career path. I wish them the very best for the future.
“We do recognise, however, that this may not be a time of celebration for everyone. Schools and colleges are there to offer support and guidance for those students whose results may not be all they had hoped for.”
