Cheshire West and Chester Council is to join forces with Carers UK and local partner Better Together for Carers and the Community to celebrate Carers Rights Day on Thursday, 20th November.
Sheila Little, Cabinet Member for Adult Services said:
"Unpaid carers are the backbone of our communities, often putting their own needs aside to care for loved ones.
Carers Rights Day is a vital opportunity to make sure they know the support available to them and feel valued for the incredible work they do every day.
We are committed to standing alongside carers and ensuring they have the resources and recognition they deserve."
This year’s theme, “Know your rights, Use your rights,” is all about empowering the UK’s 5.8 million unpaid carers - the everyday heroes who give their time and energy to support loved ones. We want every carer to feel confident about the help and entitlements available to them.
Unpaid carers make an incredible difference in our communities, caring for family or friends who face illness, disability, mental health challenges, or addiction. Carers Rights Day shines a spotlight on their vital role and ensures they get the recognition and practical support they deserve.
Knowing your rights can help you:
✔ Access the support you need
✔ Balance caring with work
✔ Protect your health and wellbeing
✔ Navigate hospital discharge for the person you care for
To mark the day, Better Together is hosting two friendly, informative events on Thursday, 20th November.
Come along to:
- Learn more about your rights as a carer
- Discover local services and support
- Meet the Better Together team and connect with other carers
- Enjoy lunch and refreshments—our treat!
