There are simple things which you can do to protect your property from becoming a target for a thief.
Have you ever taken time to think about how secure your property is?
Have you ever thought outside the box and thought how easy it would be to gain entry into your garage or through a window of your property?
There are simple things which you can do to protect your property from becoming a target!
Please consider the simple steps which apply to you,
- Close and lock windows at night or when leaving the house/property.
- Ensure that all doors are locked securely when leaving the house/property.
- Ensure sheds have a good quality padlock on the door.
- Consider shed alarms if you store expensive items within a shed.
- Consider "coach bolts" for securing hinges on a shed door.
- Consider window restrictors.
- Consider natural defences (Holly bush/ Thorn bush) around vulnerable access points.
- Consider specialised patio locks for patio doors.
- Invest in a Garage Door Defender to secure and stop garage doors from being opened.
- Consider investing in a safe for personal documents, cash or valuables.
- Consider anti climb paint above 1.8m.
- Consider investing in a good quality CCTV system which cover all entry and exit points to the house/property.
- Consider investing in door chains and ensuring they are engaged when leaving the house/property or when going to bed.
- Consider storing valuables indoors (bikes, motorbikes) if possible.
- Don't leave keys "on show" near windows or doors.
- Don't leave gardening tools, debris or items which be used to gain entry into a property in plain site.
- Consider padlocks for garden gates or other entry points around the perimeter of a property.
- Consider the use of SmartWater on valuables to forensically protect and mark items within a house/property.
- Consider signing all valuables up to "Immobilise UK" (FREE online property register).
