As Cheshire and North Wales charity DSN celebrates 45 years serving people with a hearing and/or vision loss, it is calling on fundraisers to join in a special edition of an annual walk.
The charity aims to raise £450 at the Chester Business Club annual walk which begins at Chester Racecourse on Sunday, September 26th at 11am, with registration beginning at 10.15am.
Following a year of little fundraising, Gill Reeder Executive, said the walk was a great opportunity to not only celebrate the huge milestone for DSN, but to raise some much needed funds for projects across the area.
“We would love to get 45 walkers to join us for this annual walk - we already have about 15 signed up, so it would be a great thing to get more people involved. It’s certainly not a race, just a stroll and actually a great opportunity to meet new people within the business community in Chester and the surrounding areas too!” Added Gill.
The walk has a series of ‘legendary’ refreshment stops en route, including Mars bars, orange juice, bacon butties and coffee and the finishing line gin and tonics.
To add fun to the day there will also be face painters for children and prizes for the best and worst behaved dog and those raising more than £100 for charity will also be entered into a draw to win a host of prizes.
This year, DSN has been chosen by the Lord Mayor of Chester Martyn Delaney as its charity of the year and Cllr Delaney will be one of the participants stepping out to raise money for this important cause.
He along with the DSN team are hoping to smash their £450 target in order to help carry out important projects for people living with a hearing or vision loss in the city and beyond.
Gill added: “If you’d like to get involved - we would encourage families and groups of friends to join us. We are a very friendly team and we may even be able to show you some sign language along the way!”
