A Chester and Wrexham based community theatre company have announced open auditions for a production of a much-loved Musical which they first staged over 30 years ago.
Tip Top Productions are set to stage the iconic West End and Broadway Musical 'Annie' at Storyhouse in Chester in July this year with roles up for grabs including Annie, orphans, Daddy Warbucks, Miss Hannigan and President Roosevelt. Open auditions for Annie and her fellow orphans (ages 8-14, height under 5ft 3 inches) will take place on Saturday 1st March 1.30pm - 5pm with auditions for all adult roles and Ensemble (age 18+) set to take place on Sunday 2nd March 1.30pm -5pm. Speaking about the show, Steve Davies, the Chair of Tip Top Productions said:
"First produced by Tip Top in 1992 at the Chester Gateway Theatre, 'Annie' was our very first big musical. It’s been over 20 years since our last production of this classic show, and we are excited about our plans to bring it back to Chester and the Storyhouse stage this summer."
Tickets are already on sale via the Storyhouse Box Office for the show which will run from Wednesday 16th - Saturday 19th July.
'Annie' is just one of several productions set to be staged in a busy year for the community theatre company which also includes a special performance in the new Theatr Moondance at Theatr Clwyd in April. Several members of Tip Top have also been cast in the amateur premiere production of long running smash hit musical 'Les Misérables' at The Liverpool Empire as part of celebrations to mark the musical's 40th Anniversary. In September, Tip Top will return to Theatr Clwyd with 'Annie Get Your Gun in Concert'. Christmas plans include their annual Christmas Concert as well as a new production of 'Dick Whittington', Tip Top's traditional family friendly Pantomime which returns to the William Aston Hall in Wrexham.
Tip Top Productions have also announced that they will be one of the first non-professional companies to produce the Tony and Olivier Award winning musical 'Come From Away' which be staged at Storyhouse in Chester in April 2026.
