The cast of a brand-new play which is set to hit the stage in Chester has been announced.
Following on from their sellout production of 'Hansard' at Chester Little Theatre, theatre company Against The Grain will stage 'Frank', written by actor, director and playwright Mark Newman, at St Mary's Creative Space in Chester from Tuesday 18th - Saturday 22nd March at 7.30pm. The play will be directed for Against The Grain by Lisa Miller.
Described as 'bonkers, brilliant and hilarious', 'Frank' tells the story of recently retired Eric who spends his days at home with his wife, Val, spying on his Neighbours, and generally sticking his nose in where it's not wanted. When the couple are asked by their new Neighbours, Olly and Lou, to house-sit for them while they are away, things take an unexpected turn, rapidly spiraling out of control with frequently hysterical consequences. The couple also receive a visit from an old friend, Jack Hodges. Just who is Jack and do Eric and Val have more in common with Olly and Lou than they might imagine?
The cast of 'Frank' includes Stuart Evans (The Weir, Someone Who'll Watch Over Me, Roleplay, Curtains) as Olly, Laura Smith (The Weir, Agnes of God, Roleplay, Curtains) as Lou, Mark Newman (Deathtrap, Someone Who'll Watch Over Me, Roleplay, Curtains, Hansard) as Eric, Marian Newman (Deathtrap, Agnes of God, Roleplay, Hansard) as Val and John Lindop as Jack. A familiar face to Chester and North Wales theatregoers. John's theatre credits include countless productions at the Chester Gateway Theatre, The Forum Studio Theatre and Theatr Clwyd.
Speaking about the play, Mark Newman said:
"We're really looking forward to bringing 'Frank' to the stage. When I started writing it, I was determined to make sure it would be as entertaining and funny as possible, and I think the audience should have an absolute blast. We're thrilled to have John Lindop onboard for the first time in an Against The Grain production and to be working with a new Director too - Lisa Miller - who we've been delighted to welcome into the Against the Grain fold."
