Pupils at a Cheshire School are getting ready to shine on stage for the first time in two years as they stage a production of an iconic West End and Broadway Musical.
Staged by The Grange School in Hartford near Northwich, "Little Shop of Horrors" will run at The Grange Theatre, Hartford from Wednesday 23rd Saturday 26th March at 7.00pm with a Matinee performance at 1pm on Saturday 26th March.
The show, a dark comedy rock musical, tells the story of Seymour, a hapless florist shop worker who raises a Venus Flytrap plant called Audrey II that feeds on human blood and flesh. With music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman, the musical is loosely based on the low-budget 1960 black comedy film "The Little Shop of Horrors".
With a soundtrack of feelgood 1960s rock and roll, "doo-wop" and early Motown, the show includes several well-known tunes, including the title song "Little Shop of Horrors", "Skid Row (Downtown)", "Somewhere That's Green", and "Suddenly, Seymour".
The show's Director, Jacqueline Hardy-Kinsella, Head of Drama at The Grange School said, “We are so incredibly proud of the standard of this production, which is in no small part down to the commitment and talent of our amazing young cast and crew. The show promises to be a fantastically fun and thoroughly entertaining evening for our audiences.”
The show is rated as a 12A (Under 12's are to be accompanied by an adult, parental guidance). Refreshments provided by Ice Cream Creations will be available at each performance.
