Storyhouse, working closely with Cheshire West and Chester Council, its in-house service Vivo Care Choices and Peoples Choice Group, has launched new club nights.
Vivo’s Community Fund has provided the support needed so Storyhouse’s Garret Theatre can be transformed into an accessible club once a month.
Club nights are part of Storyhouse’s Kaleidoscope programme, a series of events and an annual festival for people with learning disabilities.
There’ll be DJs, silent disco headsets and performances from live bands without any strobe lighting used, making it a friendly and comfortable place for everyone to visit and party.
Club nights are held on the first Friday of each month, with the next one taking place in the new year from 6pm to 9pm on Friday 6 January 2023.
Councillor Val Armstrong, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health, said: “This is a fantastic new initiative for people with learning and physical disabilities.
“Storyhouse’s Kaleidoscope programme provides so many wonderful opportunities for people and the club nights are a great addition to this.
“Club nights are something people with learning disabilities have wanted locally for some time and the grant from Vivo’s Community Fund has helped make this a reality.
“It’s a welcoming space for everyone to come together and have plenty of fun.
“The calendar of club nights will continue to be developed so there’ll be opportunities for people with learning disabilities to provide their input about what they’d like to feature at future events.
“I’d encourage as many people as possible to take advantage of this new initiative as it’s a great opportunity for you to meet other people.”
