Following tomorrow’s game at Elton Vale, Chester FC will step up their pre-season preparations with a five-day training camp at University of Bangor.
Having reported back this week, the squad – including six new faces – will travel to Gwynedd on Monday for an intense week of training before returning to face Sheffield Wednesday at the Deva Stadium on Saturday 10th July.
The camp will enable Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley to put the players through their paces and integrate the new signings into the squad before a busy pre-season fixture programme.
Given current restrictions, the camp will take place behind closed doors and Jonno believes the opportunity of spending five intensive days together will be of great benefit to the Blues for their 2021/22 Vanarama National League North campaign.
He said: “After the success of the pre-season camp in Newquay in 2019, we felt it was really important to try and get away again for a few days to concentrate solely on football.
“After doing some extensive research on different places and facilities we settled on Bangor University as a base for a pre-season camp.
“The facilities they have there will allow us to act like a professional football team, living in each other’s pockets and spending valuable time on the pitch.
“With a quite a few new signings now onboard with Darren Stephenson, Jude Oyibo, James Hardy, Dan Cowan, Matty Williams and Zack Clarke, it will give us a chance to integrate them into a new group but also allow us spend time with them on what we want to be as a team this season.”
Chester FC would like to thank the University of Bangor for accommodating the squad and providing access to the excellent sports facilities at its Treborth site.
