BLUES MATCH REPORT: FARSLEY CELTIC 1 - 2 CHESTER FC

Chester FC fought extremely hard to claim a 2 - 1 away victory over Farsley Celtic on a rainy afternoon in Yorkshire.

The game started at a frenetic pace. Chester’s Tom Peers raced through, but his fierce drive was parried by Farsley Celtic’s ‘keeper Zan Luk Leban.

The hosts then went up the other end and took the lead with not even two minutes on the clock. Coulsen crossed the ball hard and low across Stanway’s box and Leverett was unmarked at the back post to tap it in.

The remainder of the half saw Farsley Celtic defend and battle valiantly, with player/manager Clayton Donaldson leading by example.

Long range efforts from Tollitt and Weeks failed to test Luk Leban as the Seals struggled to fashion any clear-cut chances.

Harrison Burke managed to fashion an effort goalward despite being on the floor, following some good work by Tom Peers, but Luk Leban was on hand again to smother.

Calum McIntyre’s men went into the break having dominated the possession but struggled to make the pressure pay.

Chester started the second half with renewed attacking impetus and their efforts were rewarded. Ben Tollitt stepped up to take a 25-yard freekick and he effortlessly whipped into the top left corner. An unbelievable strike and what a way to announce himself on his full debut.

Ben Tollitt looked lively throughout, and he played a big part in Chester’ second. He carried the ball 30 yards before trying to round the ‘keeper but the muddy conditions saw him overrun the ball.

However, he still managed to cut the ball back to the onrushing Tom Peers who struck the ball with venom. An arm was raised by Tom Allan to block the strike and the referee pointed to the spot.

The midfielder was also giving his marching orders for the offence as he was deemed to have prevented a clear goal scoring opportunity.

Elliott Whitehouse stepped up and he confidently slotted the ball into the bottom left-hand corner. That’s now three goals in three games for Whitehouse as he dispatched from 18 yards for the third game running.

Chester saw out the game with maturity, a performance which Chester boss Calum McIntyre will take many positives from.

Back-to-back wins and its now seven games unbeaten for Chester, as they retain third spot in the National League North.
