A memorable night at the Deva Stadium saw Chester FC progress to the First Round Proper of the FA Cup, thanks to a close-range finish from Dylan Mottley-Henry and a stunner from Jack Bainbridge!
The Blues made a fast start and pushed the Shrimps back in the early stages.
Pat Jones had the first major chance when he found space on the right-hand side of the box but his drilled strike was gathered by Jamal Blackman.
The away shot-stopper was powerless to stop Tom Peers’ audacious long-range effort just before the half-hour mark but the ball crashed back off the crossbar to safety, almost an astonishing finish from our number seven.
Ex-Chester forward Ben Tollitt had the visitors’ best chance before the interval but his strike clattered into the side-netting.
P. Jones looked dangerous throughout the half and went close as the break drew nearer but his curled long-range strike flew past the post.
The second period was played inside the Morecambe half for the vast majority as a packed Harry Mac dragged the ball into the net.
Chances from Murray and P. Jones came and went before Dylan Mottley-Henry lit the tie alight with a close-range finish.
Iwan Murray cut the ball across the box and Mottley-Henry slotted home from close-range, a fully deserved lead for the Seals.
The came an unbelievable moment, as the ball fell to Jack Bainbridge outside the box who caused absolute pandemonium inside the Deva.
The midfielder smashed an outrageous effort into the top corner from 25 yards out to seal the result in style.
A trip to EFL League Two outfit Cambridge United awaits the Blues in the First Round Proper on the weekend surrounding the 1st November.
