A late equaliser from James Jones earned a point for the Blues, at the Deva Stadium this evening, against Marine.
Ash Hunter had the first major chance of the contest as his curled effort forced George Murray-Jones to push behind for a corner, before Pat Jones rifled the Blues’ first chance narrowly wide as he found space just outside the 18-yard box.
Finlay Sinclair-Smith had the visitors’ next major chance but his strike flew over from inside the box.
Striker George Newell opened the scoring just after coming off the bench on the stroke of half-time as his deflected header bounced into the back of the net.
Tom Peers was shown a second yellow card and dismissed in first-half stoppage time for simulation.
Nathan Woodthorpe thought he had levelled the scoreline mid-way through the half but he was ruled offside after he converted from close-range from a drilled Iwan Murray cross.
Another big opportunity arrived for the Seals with just over ten minutes remaining but Jack Bainbridge’s flicked effort rolled just wide after Murray’s low ball across the box.
The equaliser came in the dying embers of the contest as J. Jones rose the highest inside the box and slotted a bouncing header into the bottom corner.
It’s a quick turnaround for Calum McIntyre’s side who travel to Derbyshire to face Buxton on Saturday.
