Man United ran out winners in a friendly match at the Deva Stadium, on Monday night, when George Glendon made his long-awaited return from injury.
Calum McIntyre named a side which saw only Wyll Stanway and Iwan Murray start from Saturday’s defeat at Bishop’s Stortford.
A strong United side was named, and it was Noam Emeran who had the first two chances of the game – twice denied by Stanway.
The visitors took the lead though on 20 minutes as Mateo Mejia’s cutback squirmed through the legs of the Blues ‘keeper, enabling Shola Shoretire to slide in and bundle the ball home.
Chester contained their Premier League hosts well for the majority of the half and almost had a chance of their own when teenager Oskar Rosenblatt turned a dangerous ball across goal, but Zack Clarke couldn’t quite convert.
United doubled their advantage on 36 minutes when Charlie McNeill spun and fired in from just inside the area.
The best moment of the half for the home faithful was a substitution on 37 minutes, when Club Captain George Glendon came on for Iwan Murray – his first match action for 399 days.
McNeill was looking to add to his tally in the second half, latching on to a pass from Marc Jurado before seeing his volley clip the crossbar and go over.
And the forward did then make it a brace just before the hour mark as he turned home Mejia’s cutback from the right.
Three became four on 72 minutes – a lightning counter ending with McNeill cutting back low for Emeran to convert a simple tap in.
Full-back Teden Mengi almost made it five late on with a back post header, denied by an excellent save from Stanway.

Scorers: Shoretire 20, McNeill 36 & 58, Emeran 72
Attendance: 2,659.
