Chester FC secured a play-off spot following a goalless draw with Chorley in front of a bumper crowd.
It was a game for the defences as both sides struggled to create clear-cut opportunities in a quiet draw.
Blues boss Calum McIntyre made one change from the side that was victorious over Darlington six days ago as Adam Thomas came into the starting line-up, replacing Iwan Murray.
Chorley started the game brightly forcing the opening chance as Billy Whitehouse beat the offside trap and was one on one with Harry Tyrer but the Blues’ stopper stood tall and denied the Chorley man’s effort.
Despite moving the ball around well in the opening twenty-five minutes, the visitors struggled to create clear-cut chances and were almost made to pay as Weeks won the ball in the Chorley half and drove forward but he couldn’t test Matt Urwin with his shot. At the half the two sides remained level, with neither ‘keeper having too much to do.
Chester created the opening chance of the second half as Weeks’ corner found Kevin Roberts, but the half-time substitute couldn’t get his header on target. Chorley’s first effort of the half came two minutes later as Jon Ustabasi fired over on the volley from the edge of the penalty area.
Both sides looked for a goal to separate the two teams, but in truth neither goalkeeper had too much to worry about and the game ended in a draw.
