BLUES MATCH REPORT - CHESTER FC 0 - 0 BOSTON UNITED

The deadlock could not be broken by either side on a frustrating afternoon for Calum McIntyre’s side at the Leap76 Stadium.

After an even start Chester had the perfect opportunity for a breakthrough after Owen Windsor was played through by George Glendon.

The forward took it around the goalkeeper but slipped at the vital moment and sadly couldn’t get his shot away.

The visitors’ first signs of life going forward came through a short corner routine but Jordan Richards’ effort flew into The Harry McNally Terrace.

That was the closest the Pilgrims came during a first period which was played mostly in their half.

Owen Windsor was full of endeavour but couldn’t find any fortune when through on goal.

For the second time in the game when he was seemingly going to score, the striker slipped and couldn’t get his shot away, adding to his frustrations.

Two minutes were added and the seals continued to push, but the away side defended resolutely and held out, it remained goalless at the break.

The Blues came out slowly in the second half, with Keaton Ward having the best effort of the opening stages, drilling an effort just past the post from the edge of the box.

Around the hour mark though, The Blues sprung into action, and Harrison Burke produced an unbelievable save from Cameron Gregory in the Boston goal.

The final quarter of the match began frenetically, with both Weeks and Windsor having shots before Deji Sotona initially made the Leap76 Stadium nervous when he unleashed a strike only for it to drift past the far post.

In the final minutes, Boston almost nicked it through Jacob Hazel after a mix up at the back presented the forward with a golden opportunity.

Well Stanway was more then equal the the shot though, and in the end the ball was comfortably cleared.

For the second time of the afternoon Harrison Burke almost put the Seals ahead from a corner, with Jordan Richard’s clearing his powerful header off the line.

Unfortunately, the deadlock could not be broken in the final few minutes and Calum McIntyre’s side had to settle for a point.

It’s now six unbeaten for the seals, but we drop to sixth in the National League North, one point behind South Shields in third
