A brace from Tom Peers earned Chester FC well-deserved success on the road at the Impact Arena.
Adam Lund had the first major chance for the visitors as he headed a drilled corner just past the post.
The Seals pushed forward for the remainder of the opening period, going close on the first occasion through Dylan Mottley-Henry who headed with power from close-range after a fantastic cross from debutant Lewis Leigh, only for Harry Burgoyne to palm behind for a corner.
Pat Jones was a constant threat throughout the half but his efforts were consistently blocked by a stubborn home back line.
The contest changed in the dying embers of the half as referee Scott Simpson pointed to the spot as Iwan Murray was brought down inside the Alfreton box.
Peers stepped up and smashed down the middle with composure to break the deadlock and earn an important lead as the contest rolled into stoppage time.
The Seals pushed for a second immediately after the break and restricted the hosts’ attacking threat to a minimum.
Mottley-Henry almost doubled the lead with another dangerous header but Burgoyne pushed over, before Festus Arthur also forced the ‘keeper into an impressive stop from a well-delivered Leigh corner.
Peers got that crucial second goal with 17 minutes left on the clock as he forced an opening through pressure on the home defence.
It culminated in an open goal for our number seven who smashed into the net in front of the travelling Seals support.
The contest was seen out in immaculate fashion by Chester who claimed all three points in Derbyshire.
