With more than £420,000 in funding available from Cheshire West and Chester Council in the latest round on the Cheshire West Crowd, more community projects than ever before are busy running crowdfunding campaigns to bring their ideas to life.
The Cheshire West Crowd, which is being run by the Council in partnership with Spacehive, provides the opportunity for everyone to put forward community-led projects and attract funding so the borough can become more vibrant, resilient and connected.
After just two funding rounds, the Cheshire West Crowd has already seen more than £650,000 raised for local projects, with almost £300,000 in pledges by the Council alongside over 2,000 other backers.
This impact is set to double, with 33 new projects and counting now running crowdfunding campaigns as part of the current round, calling on the local community to support their ideas.
The projects come in many different shapes and sizes united by their goal to make the borough a better place, with Soul Kitchen 25 per cent of the way to raising funds for purchasing a van to support those in poverty, Down Syndrome Cheshire almost halfway to reaching its target to create a new sensory room and much more.
Councillor Louise Gittins, Leader of the Council and Champion for the Cheshire West Crowd, said: “We’re once again expecting a highly successful funding round on the Cheshire West Crowd.
“This initiative has been a real success since we first launched it and we’ve helped make many ideas become a reality by providing funding.
“The Cheshire West Crowd is really flexible and allows everyone, including the Council, to support local community projects.
“No matter how much you pledge to a project, it can make a big difference towards them reaching their goal.”
The following funding pots will be available from the Council in the autumn 2022 round.
- Community Innovation Fund – £250,000
- Youth Fund – £20,000
- Cheshire West Crowd Fund – £90,000
- COVID Recovery and Renewal Fund – £47,885
- Climate Change Emergency Fund – £10,000
- Tackling Poverty Fund – £9,865
Whether you’re a business, donor, resident or anyone else, you can get involved with the Cheshire West Crowd and pledge to local projects close to your heart.
While campaigns may finish at different times, they all need to reach their crowdfunding targets on the Cheshire West Crowd by Tuesday 28 February 2023.
