Baby Loss Awareness Week takes place each year from 9th –15th October, bringing families together to honour babies gone too soon and to raise awareness of the impact of pregnancy and baby loss.
This year, Elsie’s Moon, a Wirral-based charity founded in memory of baby Elsie, will host a special Wave of Light service on Wednesday 15th October at Mercure Abbots Well, Chester. Families are invited to arrive from 6pm to share refreshments and gentle crafts before coming together to light candles at 7pm, joining a global moment of remembrance.
The Wave of Light is a relaxed and welcoming event, designed to be family-friendly and inclusive, offering gentle activities such as pebble drawing, bracelet making, name writing, and colouring in. Alongside these creative moments, there will be tea, coffee, and cake, creating a warm and comforting atmosphere where parents, siblings, grandparents, and friends can come together in a safe and compassionate space to remember and connect. By covering the cost of the event, Elsie’s Moon is ensuring that as many families as possible can attend without barriers.
“Baby Loss Awareness Week is deeply personal to us,” said Lindsey Devlin, founder of Elsie’s Moon. “We set up the charity in Elsie’s memory so that other families would have the support and community we wished for at the time. The Wave of Light is a powerful reminder that our babies will never be forgotten, and that we are connected by love and shared experience.”
