Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a burglary in Frodsham.
At around 8.05am on Thursday 20 September the occupier of a house on High Street heard someone walking around downstairs.
She ran downstairs and saw a stranger in the dining room.
The man fled the house through the back door and she chased after him.
The woman followed him onto Albert Row and then towards High Street, where the passenger of a silver car, believed to be either a Volkswagen Polo or Golf, gestured at him.
The passenger side door was open and the car sped off in the direction of Runcorn as the woman continued to chase the man, who was carrying items taken from the house – including a handbag, cash and a laptop.
They ran along High Street and then Alexandra Mews.
The woman called out for some builders on the corner of Alexandra Mews to stop him as he ran towards them.
Three of the builders grabbed hold of the man and detained him until police arrived. Officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw anything suspicious in the area.
Detectives also want to speak to anyone who thinks they saw, or has dashcam footage of, a silver VW Polo or Golf in the area around that time.
Detective Sergeant Andrew Manson said: “Burglary is a serious offence that targets people in the place they should be able to feel most safe – their own home.
Being the victim of a burglary is a deeply upsetting experience and it is even more traumatic when it occurs while you are at home.
We also want to hear from anyone who thinks they saw a silver VW Polo or Golf in the area or has dashcam footage of the car or anything else that may aid our investigation.”
