Officers in Chester are urging people to be vigilant following reports of suspicious activity involving a man approaching people for money.
Officers are aware of reports of a number of incidents in Chester city centre involving a man asking people for money, which he says he will transfer back to them via an app. However, the money is never repaid.
Officers are continuing to urge members of the public to be vigilant when approached in these circumstances.
Inspector James Wilson said:
“We would like to reassure residents that we are aware of reports which we believe relate to the same individual asking for money and not repaying it.
“We know people may have transferred this man money or given him cash out of good intentions, so we are asking anyone who believes this has happened to them to get in touch with us.
“We would also urge people not to hand over money in suspicious circumstances."
