Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a fatal collision near Ellesmere Port.
At 2.53pm on Friday 5 November police were called to reports of a collision on the A5117 near to the wastewater treatment site.
On arrival officers found that there had been a collision between a red Vauxhall Corsa and a red Citroen C3 which had left the scene.
Sadly the driver of the Corsa, a 59-year-old man from Runcorn, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
The Citroen was subsequently located on Friday 5 November and a 64-year-old woman from Elton was arrested in relation to the incident; she has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Enquiries in relation to the collision are ongoing and officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone with any dashcam footage which may aid the investigation.
