Detectives investigating two burglaries in Chester are appealing for information from members of the public.
Two houses on Sealand Road were broken into whilst no-one was at home on Tuesday 21 July.
A quantity of cash and jewellery were stolen from both houses.
One of the victims saw a man coming out of his address when he returned home at around 3.40pm.
He attempted to pursue the man in his car but lost sight of him near The Mulberry Centre.
The man knew the victim was attempting to catch up with him and fled on a bicycle.
He is described as white, in his late 20s or early 30s and around 6’ tall with a slim build.
The man had short, scruffy, black hair and a gaunt face and was wearing a grey hooded jacket.
The mountain bike he was riding had silver and green colours on it.
Enquiries in relation to the two burglaries, which detectives believe to be linked, are ongoing.
As part of their enquiries detectives are urging anyone with any information or footage that may aid their investigation into the incidents to get in touch.
Detective Constable Tom Philpotts, of Chester Local Policing Unit, said: “Burglary is a serious offence in which victims are targeted in their own home, which is the place you should be able to feel most safe.
“I would like to reassure members of the community that we are doing everything we can to establish who committed the two burglary offences on Sealand Road and bring them to justice.
“They were committed at some point after 2pm on Tuesday 21 July.
“If you were in the area that afternoon and saw something that may be relevant to our investigation please get in touch.
“The same goes for anyone with information or CCTV or dashcam footage in relation to the man who was seen coming out of one of the burgled addresses and subsequently fled the scene on a mountain bike.”
Anyone with information or footage that may help the investigation should call Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting IML 760271, give the details via https://www.cheshire.police.uk/ro/report or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
