Police are appealing for witnesses and video footage following three attempted burglaries in Ellesmere Port.
Between 4.50pm and 6pm on Monday 4 July police were called to three incidents in the Stanney area of the town.
The first occurred at around 4.55pm when a man entered an address on Thornton Road and threatened the occupant with a stanley knife. He then fled the scene empty handed – travelling in the direction of Oval Court.
A short time later at 5.30pm, the same man is believed to have entered a garden shed outside an address on Cambridge Road and stole a petrol can.
Finally, at 5.50pm, the man gained entry into an address on Girton Road. He subsequently fled the scene empty handed after being confronted by the occupants.
Officers were deployed to the scene and conducted a thorough search of the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
On all three occasions the suspect was described as a man who was wearing dark clothing.
Enquiries in relation to the incidents are ongoing and officers are keen to hear from anyone with any information which may aid their investigation.
Detective Sergeant Graeme Carvell said: “While there were no reports of any injuries, the victims were understandably left shaken as a result of the incidents, and I understand the concern these reports are likely to cause in the local community.
“I would like to reassure residents that we are committed to doing all we can to trace the person responsible.
“Our investigation is currently ongoing and as part of our enquiries I’m keen to hear from anyone who has any information which may aid our investigation.
“The same goes for anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage.”
Anyone who has information, CCTV or dash cam footage is asked to contact Cheshire Constabulary online at:
