Officers investigating an arson incident in Ellesmere Port are appealing for information from members of the public.
Some time before 4.45am on Wednesday 13 May a mechanical digger was set alight in a field off Seacombe Drive in Great Sutton.
The fire caused extensive damage to the plant machinery before it was extinguished by firefighters.
Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and officers are urging anyone with any information or footage that may help their investigation to get in touch.
Police Constable Lena Martin, of Ellesmere Port Local Policing Unit, said: “Arson is a serious offence and we are determined to establish who started the fire and make them face the consequences of their actions.
“The fire caused significant damage to the mechanical digger.
“It is believed to be an isolated incident and enquiries are ongoing.
“As part of our enquiries we want to speak to anyone was in the area in the early hours of the morning and witnessed anything that may aid our investigation.
“Perhaps you saw who started the fire, or have CCTV or dashcam footage of them.
“We also want to hear from anyone who believes they may know who started the fire.”
