Following the weekend’s result for Chester FC, the Board of Directors have provided an update to supporters...
We are all disappointed with the poor start to the season and understand and share the concern and frustration you have expressed.
Immediately after full-time on Saturday, we held extensive discussions with Manager Calum McIntyre and his coaching staff regarding the team’s performance.
There was an overwhelming consensus that results have not been good enough and that there is a clear need for an immediate improvement.
Further discussions took place throughout Sunday to address how we move forward as a club and achieve the results required to turn our season around.
Calum and his backroom team asked that we convey to all Chester FC supporters that they recognise and accept the disappointment with the current league position and points return, and take full responsibility for this. Calum, his staff, and the players are united in their belief that they can deliver the results and performances needed to rectify the current situation, and in wanting the opportunity to do so.
The unanimous view of the Board of Directors is that the significant contribution Calum and his staff have made to the football club over three-and-a-half years is deserving of this opportunity.
All parties have therefore agreed clear targets for our upcoming league fixtures, and are in agreement that it is essential these are met to retain the best chance of achieving our expectations this season. Through this time, we will continue to give our full support to Calum, his backroom team, and the players.
We can assure you that we know we need to be better and that everyone at the club will continue working tirelessly to turn our season around and improve our league position.
Your backing makes a huge difference and we ask that you continue to get behind the team, starting with Saturday’s visit to Cambridge United in the FA Cup First Round, where we have the chance to showcase our club against EFL opposition for the first time in more than a decade and in front of another magnificent away following.
Thank you for your continued support.
