Flintshire County Council is pleased to announce that the Activities and Events Grant has been a huge success.
Over the last 18 months 2,3 organisations across Flintshire have benefitted from a total of £109,697.52 of grant funding for their activities and events in 7 town centres (Buckley, Connah’s Quay, Flint, Holywell, Mold, Queensferry and Shotton). With up to 80% grant funding available, each of the successful organisations all contributed at least 20% towards the overall cost of their activities and events which amounted to £116,475.40 over and above the grant funding being spent in local economy as a result of this scheme.
The Town Centre Activities and Events Grant Scheme was part of the Town Centre Investment Programme in Flintshire which comprised 10 projects in total and generated over £2 million investment across seven towns across Flintshire since September 2023. The programme has been made possible with funding secured from the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund.
The aim of the Town Centre Activities and Events Grant (TCAEG) was to support the prosperity of the town centres by organising events and activities that bring more people to the town centre. Town centre businesses have faced economically challenging times over recent years, so by boosting activity in town centres across Flintshire, this has benefitted the businesses and helped to increase the overall vibrancy of towns across the county.
As a direct result of the grant funding, there have been 115 activities or events held in the town centres with 9,756 recorded people attending. 396 people have volunteered at these events or activities and at least 245 organisations have directly benefitted from the proposed activity/event.
As part of the activities or events there has been 178 people who have benefitted from upskilling and training and 423 people recorded as engaging in decision making for their town centre.
Funding to continue this project from April 2025 is currently being sought by Flintshire County Council’s Regeneration Team, and organisations are invited to apply for funds from April 2025.
All information will be shared from 1st April 2025 here.
The Regeneration team will be holding an information afternoon on Wednesday 2nd April 2025 12noon-4pm to share information about the 2025-26 scheme, and to assist with applications and offer advice.
This will be held in Buckley library or alternatively please contact:
