Rehearsals are in full swing as one of Chester's top choirs prepares to stage its annual Christmas concert where they will be joined by an acclaimed Welsh harpist.
The special festive concert, set to be staged at St Columba's Church in Newton on Friday 15th December at 7.30pm, will feature a whole host of festive favourites including Joy to the World, In the Bleak Mid Winter and Silent Night. Other highlights include Gaston from Beauty and The Beast and a debut performance by the choir of We Rise Again. During the concert, the audience will also be invited to join the choir in singing some traditional Carols. The choir will once again be under the baton of its musical director Joe Mann and accompanied by Pianist Helen Jackson.
The choir will be joined for the special Christmas concert by its special guest, acclaimed Harpist Dylan Cernyw. Originally from Llandudno but now residing in Colwyn Bay, Dylan is well known as an accompanist and solo artist, appearing at prestigious festivals and events throughout Wales and broadcasting for the BBC and other TV networks. He is currently the resident Harpist at the Imperial Hotel in Llandudno and Bodnant Gardens amongst others. Dylan has appeared at the 1000 Voices Festival at The Royal Albert Hall and has performed alongside several well known names including Sir Bryn Terfel, Rhys Meirion and Annette Bryn-Parry. Dylan has also accompanied soprano singer Kathryn Jenkins at concerts throughout the UK.
Speaking about the concert, Blair Wilson, the Chair of Chester Male Voice Choir said:
"We are delighted to be holding our Christmas Concert at St Columba’s Church once again this year and we look forward to welcoming Dylan as our special guest and seeing friends and family at the concert to share this special time of the year. This year has been a busy year for the choir and we are well ahead with planning next year's events, so the choir will be having a well-earned break over the Christmas period, ready to start again refreshed in 2024. We would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy Christmas and we look forward to seeing friends and supporters at our events next year."
