A ‘Waggy Trails’ dog walk, to raise funds for a leading British mental health charity for military veterans, is being held in Ellesmere Port this weekend.
Sally’s Walk for Veterans will set off from the Royal British Legion Club on Chester Road, Little Sutton (CH66 3RJ) at 2pm on Saturday, November 2.
The aim is to raise money for the charity Combat Stress which is organising ‘Waggy Trails’ across the country throughout November. Last year Combat Stress helped nearly 14,000 veterans and their families.
The aim is to gather funds to tackle a wide range of mental health issues suffered by many veterans on leaving the Armed Forces. Dogs and their people can sign up to be sponsored to walk 30, 90 or 150 miles during November.
Sally, a 13-month-old Border Collie from Little Sutton, is being sponsored to walk 90 miles during November and will be accompanied by her owner, Cheshire West and Chester councillor Peter Wheeler. They are looking for other dogs to join in.
To kick start the month a dog walk will start from the British Legion Club on Chester Road, Little Sutton up to the Cenotaph at St Paul’s Church. Hoping to join the walk is Justin Madders, MP for Ellesmere Port and Bromborough, accompanied by Mellie the Labrador.
All are welcome to go along to Sally’s Walk.
