This January, prepare for an unforgettable event in the realm of ice hockey.
For a special weekend, the Aspray Chester Deeside Dragons will transform into the Aspray Chester Flintshire Freeze, in a nostalgic celebration that pays homage to the storied legacy of ice hockey in Deeside and commemorates a pivotal chapter in the club’s history.
Special Tribute with Commemorative Uniform:
On the 6th and 7th of January, the Dragons will sport a specially designed Freeze commemorative uniform, as a nod to the sport's rich heritage. The weekend kicks off with a challenging match against the Blackburn Hawks, heralding this extraordinary revival. The excitement continues the next day in Deeside, welcoming fans to a journey down memory lane.
Fans won't be able to purchase replicas of this unique kit, but they can still own a part of this historic moment through a special auction. The auction features the exclusive jersey, short covers, and socks, making for a prized possession for any dedicated fan.
Celebrating the Flintshire Freeze Era:
The Flintshire Freeze, a prominent name in Deeside ice hockey from 1998 to 2012, is celebrated for its remarkable achievements, including clinching the North League Championship in the 2003/2004 season. This event marks a tribute to those glorious days.
General Manager Shaun Bebbington is thrilled about the revival: “The weekend of January 6th and 7th is more than just a revival; it's a tribute to an era. It’s an educational journey for our young fans and a respectful nod to former Freeze players. We're delighted to offer complimentary tickets to those who have worn the Freeze jersey, hoping to reunite the original Freeze supporters at the Den.”
A Weekend of Thrills and Reflection:
This event is set to be a captivating experience for all, bridging generations of ice hockey enthusiasts. Witness former Freeze stars return to the rink in their iconic colours, reigniting the fervour that once dominated the Den. This weekend transcends the boundaries of a regular game; it's a heartfelt celebration of Deeside’s ice hockey heritage.
We invite you to be part of this extraordinary weekend as we salute the Flintshire Freeze legacy. Join us in embracing the excitement, the memories, and the rich history of ice hockey in Deeside!
