A Flintshire resident has celebrated the incredible milestone of turning 104 years old.
Marie Messham, a former landlady well-known in her community, marked her special birthday last month with family and friends.
Mrs Messham was born in Flint as the sixth of nine children, including older brother William who lived to the age of 105.
She married her late husband Harold and in 1957 the pair took over the George and Dragon pub, which they ran for 36 years.
Mrs Messham still lives in Flint, in her own home, with support from carers.
Flintshire Count Council Chair, Councillor Mel Buckley, paid a special visit to wish Mrs Messham happy birthday.
Councillor Buckley said:
“Mrs Messham is a remarkable lady and very well-known in Flint. She lives independently and is sharp as a tack.
“I visited Mrs Messham on her 100th and 103rd birthdays, when I was Mayor of Flint – and promised I’d be back this year with a different chain on.
“It was a pleasure to visit again to help celebrate her latest milestone. Reaching 104 is a great achievement, and on behalf of the Council I would like to reiterate my congratulations.”
