Here's a round up of the weekend results in the Chester and Wirral Football League...
CWFL Doug Johnson Vets Shield
Birkenhead vets and Higher Bebington Kelma vets have been involved in some thrilling games of late so when the draw for the Doug Johnson Shield pitted these two sides against each other it was no surprise to see the result on Saturday. Birkenhead had Vinny O’Toole on target with a brace to go along with singles from Jamie Williams and Victor Thurgill, but Kelma also hit four of their own with a double from Ben McWah and singles from Ged McWah and Si Tierney as the 90 minutes ended 4-4. It was Kelma won the penalty shoot-out to progress through to keep their 100% record in cup competitions this season.
CDFA Challenge Cup
Waggon and Horses progressed through to the semi-final of the CDFA Challenge Cup after seeing off the challenge of league rivals Kelsall FC. Mikey Taylor hit a brace to go along with singles from Ben Walker and Adam Pickering. But the nearly crowned CWFL Premier Division champions smashed in six goals in reply. James Lloyd bagged a hat-trick, Harley Bennion a double and Billy Fennell a single.
CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 3
Ashton Vets defeated Upton Vets 4-2 to go four points clear at the top, thanks to a brace from Lucas Trasatti and singles from Matt Kilgallon and Alex Leigh, Upton’s consolation goals came from Matt Norton and Ben Walley.
CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 4
Hartford Vets made it seven wins from seven as they defeated Nags Head Bunbury vets by the odd goal in five. Alex Morrisroe hit a double for Nags Head but strikes from Chris Crawford, Pete Wilson and Tom Jones gave Hartford the points.
Dee Rangers vets had Lucas, Sirret and Gaskell on target in a 3-1 away win at Frodsham Park Vets whose goal came from Kevin Valentine.
FC Vaults vets moved up to second as doubles for both Will Dixon and Kieth Roberts gave them a 4-1 win against Great Sutton Vets who netted via a Vic Charles strike.
CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 5
In Division 5 Witton Albion vets were leading Poulton Athletic vets 3-1 with twenty minutes to go but Poulton struck back and took the points to win 4-3. Poulton’s goals came via a Kieron Dolan double and singles from Ste Megarry and Marc Cullimore.
