DI Eli Atkinson said: “Officers have been working tirelessly on this investigation and today’s arrests are part of this.

“I would like to take this as an opportunity to thank the public for all the information they have provided throughout this investigation and I hope today’s arrests reassure the community.

”I’d also like to thank our colleagues at Merseyside police for assisting us with today’s warrants.

“The investigation will continue and I would urge anyone who has any information to come forward either via 101 or Crimestoppers.”
