The Chancellor says Eurozone leaders have put the continent’s economy on “the right road”.

They reached an agreement on Thursday morning to solve the crisis in the single currency.

Banks are having to write off 50 percent of Greek debt, and the Eurozone
bailout fund will be increased to 1-trillion Euros.

A new campaign is being launched in Cheshire, calling for a three-year trial to shift UK clocks forward by one hour throughout the year.

Autoglass and road safety charity Brake say this would help save lives on our
roads during winter.

The clocks go back this weekend – and campaigners say road accidents increase four-fold at this time of year.

Health Inequality Blamed for Heart Disease Rates

Cheshire and Merseyside still has some of the highest rates of heart disease in the country.

And health inequality is being blamed.

According to figures by charity Heart of Mersey, people living in the most deprived areas are three times more likely to die of heart disease than others.

Thieves Target Ellesmere Port Factory

Thieves have targeted a factory in Ellesmere Port.

Tools, machinery as well as steel cable and bathroom plumbing accessories were stolen on Cloister Way.

Theives also sprayed graffiti on the walls.

The break-in happened between Saturday afternoon and yesterday Monday.

Police Get Tough With HGV Drivers

Cheshire Police have been getting tough with HGV drivers who have been ignoring road safety.

Officers were on the look out for people not wearing seat belts, using mobile phones and eating or drinking at the wheel.

In the last year, mobile phones contributed to nine people being injured on the regions roads.

Thirty four penalty tickets were issued during the operation last week.

Police Hunt Man for Indecent Exposure

Police are asking for public help, to identify a man suspected of indecently exposing himself in Chester.

He did so in front of a 14-year-old schoolgirl at Spital Walk in Boughton on 12th October.

The man made no attempt to assault the girl.

Officers investigating the case have now released an efit of the suspect.

Ellesmere Port Robbery: E-Fit Photos Released

E-Fits have been released in an Ellesmere Port robbery investigation.

It shows men who are suspected to be involved in a car-jacking.

The 32 year old local woman was targeted on the A5117 when she pulled over after a minor road traffic collision.

She was also assaulted and had her handbag stolen.

Corrie Actor to Present Award

A Coronation Street star is visiting the Countess of Chester Hospital today.

Actor Ian Puleston-Davies who plays Owen in the popular soap is presenting an award.

The maternity ward is being given the Unicef Baby Friendly Initiative Award.

Of the 32 hospitals in the North West, only 10 are fully accredited with this prestigious award, putting the Countess among a select group of top performing Trusts.

Controversial plans in place to change Chester Cathedral

 

Plans to re-vamp Chester Cathedral are being protested against by local people.

There are plans in place for the lawns and trees to be rippped out to make way for benches and other suggested improvements.

A protest is being held at midday this Saturday outside the Cathedral to object to the plans.

Objections need to be with the Council by 25th October.

The Health Protection Agency’s targeting young people in partciular.

It’s because, along with the elderly, they’re most at risk of contractng it.

Two people from Cheshire jailed for using Facebook to incite riots have failed to have their sentences reduced on appeal.

Jordan Blackshaw and Perry Sutcliffe are serving four year terms.

THIEVES STEAL FROM WOMAN INVOLVED IN COLLISION

 
Thieves have attacked and robbed a woman after her car was in a traffic collision in Ellesmere Port.

It happened after she got out of her car to look at the damage.

One of two men in the other car involved hit her and stole her handbag from her car.

They then sped away.

WAITROSE PLANS FOR CHESTER

 

The public’s being asked to have a say on retail plans at Boughton Retail Centre.

Proposals by Waitrose to create it’s largest store in Cheshire at the site have on public display at the centre.

If approved, the project would create over 400 jobs and see forty million pounds in investment for the area.

POLICE RAID HOMES OVER CASH FOR COURTS

Over thirty homes in Chester have been targeted by police in raids.

They were excuting a series of warrants for those who’ve failed to pay court fines.

Nine men were arrested for failing to pay up for amounts from £150 to £2,000 pounds.

It’s estimated that nationally, over £100 million pounds worth of outstanding fines are owed to the Court.

ODEON CINEMA LIKELY TO BE THEATRE

 

Council leaders are backing Chester’s former Odeon Cinema as the site for the city’s multi-million pound theatre.

Members of the Cheshire West and Chester Council Executive voted unanimously in favour of the city-centre location in preference to the Little Roodee site.

It follows the purchase of the Odeon building in June.

REGENRATION PLANS FOR BLACON

 

Rgeneration plans for Blacon Parade in Chester are nearing completion.

The Council’s agreed the terms of a Partnership Agreement and approved the setting up of the Blacon Asset Management Company.

It would oversee a revamp scheme to boost the centre and improve shopping and outdoor spaces.

CHESHIRE TODDLERS BEGIN ACTIVITY WEEK

 

Toddlers will be rolling around Cheshire from today.

It’s part of National Children’s Activity Week which aims to not only help parents meet new government activity guidelines, but also raise thousands of pounds for baby charity Tommy’s.

New figures show around one million children in the UK are obese and a third of children aged two to 11 do less than 60 minutes of moderate activity each day.

It’s a Save the Family Project, which enable families who have become homeless to stay together.

Fake air fresheners could be causing medical problems for people in Flintshire.

Trading standards officials have warned against them as they can cause headaches, nausea and loss of consciousness.

It comes after an officer found them being sold at Mold market.

Car Wash Burglary

A car wash business has been burgled in Ellesmere Port.

Thieves broke in and stole cash takings and two pressure washers from the offices of the City Car Wash on Cromwell Road.

It happened on October 1st.
