It finished all square in this FA Cup 3rd Qualifying round match at the Exacta:
A result that neither team would have wanted especially after the Blues midweek exertions against Gainsborough Trinity.
The match however will be remembered for the wrong reasons as repeated crowd trouble lead to an unsightly pitch invasion from a
number of Halifax fans.
The 120 minutes midweek looked to have taken it’s toll with Chester being forced to replace both McGinn and Baynes through injury in
the first half.
The game itself didn’t come to life until the second half when a seemingly harmless clash between George Horan and Halifax Town’s Dale Johnson lead to both men receiving red cards.
With both sides seemingly in disaray Antoni Sarcevic hit a spectacular drive from fully 35 yards out to give the Blues the lead. It was a lead that would last until the 81st minute when Simon Hackney levelled for Halifax with a smartly taken equaliser.
Despite late chances for both sides and six minutes of injury time, neither side were able to find a winner and a replay will now take place on Tuesday night at The Shay.
Both clubs will hoping there is no repeat of the unsightly scenes that marred today’s match.
