Chester FC 2 – 1 Gainsborough Trinity

Chester FC’s FA Cup Second Qualifying Round Replay Match, against Gainsborough Trinity, finally took place last night (2nd October) at the Exacta Stadium, having been postponed on 26th September because of a waterlogged pitch.

The first match ended in a 1 -1 draw, when The Blues travelled to Lincolnshire back on 22nd September.

Dominic Collins opened the scoring for Chester, in the 64th minute, and it looked as if that was going to be the only goal of the game until Jamie Yates equalised for Gainsborough just seconds before the full-time whistle.

Thirty minutes of extra time followed and Levi Maklin made it 2 -1 for The Blues at the start of the second half of extra time. Chester FC held on to the lead for the rest of the game securing a place in the next round of the FA Cup.

So, The Blues are in FA Cup action again on Saturday (6th October) when they play FC Halifax at the Exacta Stadium. Kick off is at 3.00 pm. Shane will be at the ground and David Sanderson will be in the studio, for Dee 106.3 Sport, between two and six.
