Ice Sculpure Competition Winners 2009

Ice Sculptors from ‘Glacial Art’ visited Chester during Fairy Day (5 December), and the previous weekend (28 November) producing a festive Fairy in Eastgate Street and an Angel. A wand and a ring were frozen into blocks of ice with the challenge to predict when the ice would melt and release them.
Chris Baines from Runcorn was the winner of the first competition, collecting a fabulous ring from the competition sponsor Rigby Jewellers in Frodsham Street.
The Fairy Day competition was won by Margaret Gregg from Guilden Sutton. Margaret collected her prize of a ‘Favourite Days out in Cheshire’ Passport from the Blue Planet Aquarium’s Paul Renolds. Both competitions were supported by Chester’s Dee 106.3.
The Ellesmere Port Winter Wonderland parade on Thursday 17 December will have their own ice sculpture and the last opportunity to watch the artists at work will be Saturday 19 December at Northwich Cross.
